See history come to life with Soulful Journeys of Women’s Donnice Robinson and Tracey Middlebrooks Wynn – as they portray Madam C.J. Walker and her sales associate in an engaging and interactive performance for all ages at the Nora Branch in honor of Women’s History Month.
Madam C.J. Walker, widely known as the first self-made Black woman millionaire in America, was an Indianapolis entrepreneur, activist, and philanthropist. This performance will show Nora patrons the vision of this passionate and ambitious woman, who used her talent and grit to transform the lives of women of color through the products she sold and the opportunities she offered.
Soulful Journeys of Women provides artistic interpretations of historical women, who had strong social, political, and spiritual impacts on their communities and the world, during their era in American History. Their mission is to educate, empower, inspire, and entertain by portraying the lives of strong women of color, who persevered through many obstacles on their path to freedom and independence.

A new library for the rapidly-expanding area of suburban Washington Township was made possible by the donation of a 2.56 acre lot from Mr. and Mrs. Harrison Eiteljorg in 1968. The Nora Branch opened in 1971 on North Guilford Avenue and was expanded to 18,500-square-feet in 1990.
